Ethiopia Update: In Pictures

Around 8 million people are receiving food aid, and a further 4.6 million are in urgent need, as a combination of drought and rapidly increasing food price rises leave people across Ethiopia without food.

Widespread crop failure means that for millions of people there simply isn’t food available. Even where food is for sale on local markets, the price – which for many basic foods has tripled since last year – is so exorbitant that poor people simply cannot afford to pay it.
