Join CARE for our 26 mile Construction Challenge on 4 July 2015. It's the ultimate team building event for the construction and property industries.

The event will take place in Carsington Water Country Park, a reservoir and beautiful country park close to the Peak District, offering stunning views and fantastic terrain for our challenge.

As a team of 2-4 you will work together to cover a marathon distance on foot, bike and canoe, and complete some mystery puzzles along the way that will test your mental agility, communication skills and team work. After all that hard work, you will be rewarded with a well-deserved celebratory meal at The Venue, Ashbourne.

It's a fantastic way to bring your team together, a great networking opportunity and a whole lot of fun!

UK Aid Match

Money you raise before 6th July will be DOUBLED by the UK government as part of CARE’s Life2Live health campaign.

So your £500 will become £1,000!

In places such as South Sudan, children struggle to make it to their fifth birthday because their vulnerable bodies have to fight against deadly diseases like malaria. Every minute a child’s life is lost from a mosquito bite. But with your help, CARE can work to stop this happening and keep children safe by providing mosquito nets.

£1,000 could buy 333 long-lasting insecticidal nets in South Sudan, giving 333 children a life to live.

Visit our Life2Life campaign page for more information.

Route info

Our event is located just 30 minutes north of Derby, at Carsington Water and will make the most of the reservoir and the country park that surrounds it for a fantastic challenge that will test both your strength and teamwork.

More details on the route, including distances of each section, will be revealed soon.

FAQs

How many people do we need to take part and how much does it cost?
Each team should consist of 2, 3 or 4 participants. Within the team you will need to appoint a team leader to co-ordinate the group and liaise with us throughout your planning and preparation. There is a registration fee of £25 per person, payable at the time of sign up and your team fundraising target will be set at £500 per team member. You will need to have banked £150 per person (including the registration fee) by the 19 June (2 weeks prior to the event), this is to ensure the costs are covered for your equipment hire and evening meal.

What time does the event start and how long does it take to complete?
The day will start at 7.30am for registration and safety briefings, with the event kicking off at 9am. The event can take anywhere from 4 - 7 hours to complete depending on your speed, level of fitness and also the weather conditions.

How fit do we have to be to participate in the CARE Construction Challenge?
You have to be reasonably fit for the challenge, although nearly anyone can take part. We can provide you with a training plan and would recommend you are of a good level of fitness for event day. If you aren’t used to riding a bike we would also advise you get some practice in before event day. On the trail section, some teams walk and some teams run – it’s up to you, but you do all need to stay together at all times, so you’ll only go as fast as the slowest team member.

Do we need to book accommodation?
Yes – you will need to book accommodation. Once you have registered we can advise on the best options to suit your budget for the Friday and Saturday nights, we would suggest you stay near the reception venue on both nights – The Venue in Ashbourne.
