16 Days of Activism with CARE

Demonstrators protest against gender violenceDemonstrators protest against gender violenceNovember 25th marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. It is a time when activists around the world campaign for an end to violence against women and girls.

CARE’s Voices Against Violence campaign calls for an end to violence against women in conflict, so this time of year is important – and very busy – for the campaigns team.

Read on to hear what we’re up to – and how you can get involved!

Reclaim the night: Join CARE and the No Women, No Peace campaign as we take to the streets on the Reclaim the Night march, on Saturday 27th November. Every year thousands of women from across the UK march through London to demand freedom from violence. Help us to raise awareness of the particular violence that women face in conflict – meet at Whitehall Place, central London at 6pm. Women’s Resource Centre conference: We’ll be building links with UK-based women’s rights activists through having a stall at the Women’s Resource Centre conference on 7th December in London. If you’re planning to go, please come and say hello, and hear more about the campaign.

Download our campaigns toolkit: To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25th November), CARE has produced a toolkit for campaigners. Be inspired by women from Afghanistan, Uganda and Nepal, and learn how you can support women peace makers. Download it here >>

Take action today: The government has announced a new Champion for ending international violence against women. Sign our petition to ensure she has the funds and authority to make a difference in the lives of women.

Every day throughout the 16 Days of Activism we will be publishing the story of a woman who has survived violence in a country where we work.
