Every year millions of people’s lives are destroyed by floods, earthquakes, drought, famine or conflict.
CARE is encouraging the public to join the CARE Walkathon in Windsor on Saturday 2nd October.
Every penny raised will go directly to our Rapid Response Fund which is used to assist people whose lives have been devastated by humanitarian emergencies.
On 2 October 2010, CARE supporters will ‘walk all over poverty’ in CARE’s 25km Walkathon along the River Thames and Jubilee Cycle Path in Windsor.
Funds raised will support CARE’s Rapid Response Fund, which enables CARE to provide fast, effective relief to people in need as soon as an emergency strikes.
Whether it’s food, water, blankets, hygiene kits, emergency shelter or medical supplies that are needed, CARE will be there to help. In emergency situations a few hours can mean the difference between life and death, and funds raised will save lives.
Most currently, the fund enabled CARE to react quickly to the torrential floods in Pakistan that have affected an estimated 20 million people.
CARE is providing emergency medical support, shelter, and essential household items including mosquito nets, hygiene kits and kitchen sets. CARE is also working to improve people’s access to clean water.
All participants must register to take part. For more information or to register for the event visit www.carechallenge.org.uk/walk or call 0207 934 9470.
