CARE International is part of the 'No women, no peace.' campaign, an innovative new campaign to end the exclusion of women from peacebuilding.
The campaign message is simple. You can't build peace leaving half the people out. Women are a vital resource in peacebuilding.
Whilst many women are actively working to build peace in their communities, this is not recognised in formal peace processes. Despite international promises, women made up only 1 in 40 peace agreement signatories over the past 25 years.
The 'No women, no peace.' campaign launched in October to coincide with the 10 year anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, the pioneering, first UN Resolution on women and peace and security.
The UK can play a key role to ensure that women are included in formal peacebuilding efforts. 'No women no peace.' will use the 10 year anniversary to create the momentum necessary to move the issue up the public and political agenda. We will call on the UK Government to honour commitments made to women living in conflict.
The campaign will officially be launched at the Frontline Club in London on Friday 15th October. Join us there for a night of drinks, art, comedy, music and inspiring speakers.
