Howard Mayson on his 24th marathon for CARE!An enthusiastic bunch of CARE runners pounded London’s streets on Sunday in the Virgin London Marathon, all to support CARE’s vital overseas work. We would like to thank each one of our runners and all their generous supporters.
Fourteen CARE runners joined 30,000 others to complete the gruelling 26.2 mile route. Despite the heat everyone finished in an impressive time, cheered on by the thousands of well-wishers that lined the streets.
More importantly the runners are set to raise a staggering £25,000 for CARE’s work with poor communities around the world. Each runner trained and fundraised hard for months, and we would like to thank each one of them for their efforts.
A special mention goes to Howard Mayson who was not only amongst the top fundraisers, but clocked up his 24th marathon for CARE. Additional mentions go to Jake Burnett-Hitchcock and Andrew Duffin who are both on course to smash their fundraising targets.
A special thank you also goes to James Rogers – Jimbo - who managed to secure his own place in the ballot, but chose to support CARE. He even went one step further and chose to run in full fancy dress as a Roman centurion.
Thanks again to all our runners: Ruth Roberts, Matthew Price, Angela Jerome, Keith Chapman, Peter Hutton, Rebecca Flower, Susannah Foulis, Helena Kerr, Jo Allen and Mambo Forya, Howard Mayson, Jake Burnett-Hitchcock, Andrew Duffin and James Rogers.
