Slideshow: Girls' Education in India

CARE is supporting the Government of India’s Integrated Child Development Services to provide quality pre-school education to children, especially girls, under 6 years old.

At primary level, our work focuses on achieving real learning outcomes, particularly in languages and mathematics, and support national efforts to achieve universal enrolment.

Our work alongside government residential schools at upper primary level allows us to take primary education to adolescent girls who have never had the chance to complete their formal schooling.

CARE's pre-school programmes address the needs of infants and children during the most critical period of their development.

We promote active learning through play, songs and games, and strive to involve mothers and families in their children’s education from the outset.

We aim to introduce a culture of education within educationally-deprived areas and instil a sense of learning in children, from a young age.
