World-renowned film music composers are joining together in a one-off live event at the Royal Albert Hall on October 18th 2010. The event will see many of the most successful film composers in the world perform with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Each score will be introduced by the composers and special guest movie stars. Various film songs will be performed by major artists backed by a full symphony orchestra.
‘Concert for CARE’ is the brainchild of David Arnold, a Grammy Award- winning British film composer, best known for scoring five James Bond films and the current BBC series Sherlock. David is an ambassador for the charity CARE International. CARE works in more than 70 countries around the world tackling poverty and injustice wherever the need is greatest. Across five continents, CARE’s work has an impact on more than 59 million people.
Announcing the line up David Arnold said: “Having witnessed firsthand the amazing work that Care International is doing around the world, where there is so much need, I am always trying to find new ways of raising awareness and money for them. The event will not only celebrate the extraordinary work of the composers and create an evening that has never been seen on this scale before, but it includes them, as my friends, in an ever increasing pool of people who understand and support Care International. It’s going to be a unique evening with wonderful music as we present some of the greatest film music and movie songs ever written.”
Geoffrey Dennis, CARE International UK chief executive, said: “We are delighted David has, once again, decided to put on an amazing event in aid of CARE International. The money raised from the concert will help us to continue working to create lasting change for some of the world’s poorest people.”
