CARE International is named by Jennifer Lopez as beneficiary of Venus Global Goddess Fund for Education

February 3, 2011—NEW YORK

Jennifer Lopez was today announced as the global ambassador for Gillette Venus, launching the Venus Goddess Fund for Education - a new philanthropic effort dedicated to empowering women through education. CARE International will be the fund's beneficiary for the Western Europe region.

The Venus Global Goddess Fund was established to enable global educational opportunities for women, and Jennifer Lopez, in her role as Venus' first-ever global ambassador, will inspire women around the world to "reveal the goddess in you."

"The Venus brand empowers women and speaks to the 'goddess' in every one of us," says Lopez. "Every woman is a goddess in her own right when we let our best feminine self shine through."

Venus consider CARE International to be the perfect charitable partner as CARE has built their "Power Within" program around helping young women overcome poverty through education. Gillette Venus and CARE International will launch a dedicated campaign later this year, encouraging women to help make a donation to the "Power Within" program.

CARE International will share its beneficiary status with North-American beneficiaries the Step Up Women's Network and Lopez's own Maribel Foundation. Venus believes that education provides a strong foundation for future success, and each of these organizations teaches and empowers women to excel in unique ways, whether via mentorship, schooling or even healthcare for their children.
