Slideshow: Pakistan floods

Deborah Underdown, CARE's press officer has taken some photos of what she has witnessed in Nowshera, which is about an hour and a half drive from Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.

We have some new statistics from the UN here too:

  • An estimated 17.2 million persons affected, of whom an estimated eight million in need of humanitarian aid
  • An area of at least 160,000 km2 (larger than England) ravaged by floods; over 3.2 million hectares of crops lost
  • Over 1.2 million homes destroyed or damaged; an estimated 4.8 million people currently without shelter
