Slideshow: Pakistan floods, one year since - work, business and livelihoods

In this slideshow you can see some of the work CARE International has been doing with survivors of last year's floods in Pakistan. Many people lost not only their home, but also their way of making a living.

CARE is helping through the provision of cash grants. Providing money directly to people helps to stimulate the local economy and enables them to make their own choices and decisions about how to move forward with their lives.

CARE has also supported women to attend vocational training to develop skills that will allow them to generate an income and help support their families. Each training session teaches 25 women the skills needed to set up their own business. Those who take part also have the opportunity to attend Disaster Risk Reduction training, helping them and their communities to be more prepared for floods and other disasters in future.
