Political instability in September 2002 led to many people fleeing their homes. CARE provided food and helped build and repair infrastructure, such as roads and bridges.

Fighting HIV and AIDS

Much of our work in Côte d'Ivoire focuses on preventing the spread of HIV and AIDS. For instance, we are raising awareness about HIV and AIDS among high-risk populations such as migrant workers and commercial sex workers.

CARE is also working to improve the health care available to people living with AIDS.

Promoting reconciliation

We aim to promote peace and conflict-resolution by supporting forward-thinking local organisations.

In partnership with these organisations, we are running a series of reconstruction projects, providing communities with an incentive to work together.
