The ongoing crisis in Ukraine shows just how devastating it is to be caught up in a conflict. Before our eyes, we are seeing families being ripped apart and ordinary citizens are taking up arms.
As with all conflicts, the crisis in Ukraine is disproportionately affecting women and girls, both within the country and those fleeing across borders.
Natasha is just one of many women around the world enduring a conflict. She fled to Romania with her two-year-old son, Artem. Leaving her husband and parents behind, she took with her only what she could carry. It is often young mothers like Natasha who struggle most in a conflict situation. Even before she left Ukraine, many products had run out in the stores.
Thankfully, we were able to reach Natasha, but there are many more refugee women who desperately need our help. We are working with our partners in Romania to support refugees like Natasha with essential relief products, including nappies, bottles and baby carriers. For more than 75 years, CARE has worked alongside communities to provide vital help in crises just like the one in Ukraine. And it’s because of our supporters that we can continue reach those most in need.
