Shaping the Future of Development through a Feminist Lens

Are you a feminist economist, development thinker, or leader from the Global South?

Do you or your organisation lead thinking on the future of development and the global rollback on rights?

Are you passionate about how governments like the UK use their foreign, development, and policy capacity to advance - or undermine - gender equality?

If so, CARE International UK (CIUK) wants to work with you.

We’re commissioning a research consultancy to develop a positioning paper that reimagines what the future of development could look like - from the perspective of those fighting for gender equality in the Global South.

As the UK Government shifts from a traditional ‘donor’ model to an ‘investor’ approach - with more emphasis on multilateral and private finance - this research will ask: what does that mean for women’s rights and gender justice globally?

The research will:

  • Analyse current trends shaping the future of development and foreign policy through a gender equality lens.
  • Explore evidence-based scenarios for how gender equality could evolve in a ‘beyond ODA’ world.
  • Identify opportunities to influence international reform agendas to better serve gender justice.

This work should be led by an individual or organisation from the Global South, ensuring that its analysis and recommendations are grounded in the lived realities of those most affected by these shifts and by the communities driving change.
