CARE’s work in Kosovo
CARE has worked in Kosovo since 1997. Initially providing humanitarian aid for people displaced by war, our current programmes support economic activities, peace and reconciliation. Unemployment in Kosovo is extremely high. We work with rural communities, particularly young people, to help them secure sustainable regular income from farming and small businesses such as beekeeping and tourism. We place a strong emphasis on supporting local organisations, especially those dedicated to supporting marginalised groups such as Roma or other minorities. We work with local organisations to address gender-based violence and human trafficking.
