CARE's work in Togo

CARE began working in Togo in 1986. Our programmes particularly target women and girls. We support women's agriculture through training, knowledge-sharing and access to savings and loans. We help girls facing exploitative and hazardous child labour to gain access to education. We raise awareness around HIV and family planning and work on urban development and rehabilitation. Our programmes help communities access water infrastructure, agro-forestry and other ways to earn a living. We also work in partnership with local organisations to help prevent the trafficking of children for sexual exploitation and child labour.

You can directly support poor entrepreneurs in Togo

Our Lendwithcare programme works with local microfinance institution partners to offer loans to people in poor communities who are starting or building up a small business. Find out more about Lendwithcare and how you can make a small loan directly to an entrepreneur in Togo.

CARE's impact

We work in 104 countries around the world, saving lives in emergencies and finding long-term solutions to poverty for millions of people every year.

About CARE

Founded in 1945 to send 'CARE packages' to people recovering from war, we have been fighting poverty in the world’s poorest countries for 75 years.

Our aims

We empower women and girls to fulfil their potential – because when one woman is helped out of poverty, she brings her family and community with her.
