Yesterday at 23:11 local time, a powerful earthquake struck central Morocco killing hundreds of people and causing devastation to towns and villages including Marrakech.
It happened in the Atlas mountains, 75 km south east of Marrakech. The epicentre is in Haouz where CARE is working.
CARE is ready to support the effort and is already shifting the focus of its current programmes in the most affected region accordingly, coordinating with partners and local authorities to assess the immediate needs.
