Nepal, India

Severe flooding in north-eastern India and in Nepal has left many homeless and killed hundreds. CARE has prepositioned emergency supplies in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and is monitoring the situation with our partners. In Nepal, the government has activated the 'cluster' emergency response mechanism (which coordinates the response of government and humanitarian agencies around areas of response such as shelter, food, water, etc). CARE Nepal is a member of the Protection cluster, is participating in the District Relief and Response Committees in areas where we have operations, and has suppliers on standby to provide relief items as required (temporary shelter kits, hygiene kits, dignity kits).

CARE has been delivering water and humanitarian support to neighbourhoods in West and East Mosul with funding from CARE's own Emergency Response Fund and from the IHPF (Iraq Humanitarian Pooled Fund of the United Nations). The projects, which will conclude on 20 August, have provided water trucks, water storage tanks, emergency prefabricated shower and latrine units, hygiene kits, mother and baby kits, and refuse collection, to multipe neighbourhoods and camps for internally displaced people.
